What is an original print? Aren't prints reproductions?
An original print is made from a hand-created matrix, such as a carved lino block. Ink is rolled onto the block, paper is placed on top, and each print is pulled by hand. Small differences in pressure, ink, and paper make each one part of the original edition.
That is different from a reproduction print, like a printed copy of a watercolor or drawing. A watercolor print usually starts as one finished painting that is photographed or scanned and then reproduced. A hand-pulled lino print is the artwork's original form.
